Mindcrack vs Salad: Chapter 2

Okay, Chapter 2! Still at that point where I'm not too sure what I wanna do yet, but once I get that thing, this'll be much better.

Team Salad was well prepared for this first challenge. It had actually been Shawn who had first offered the challenge idea to Guude, so they had a bit of an advantage. As much as Shawn wanted to lead this challenge, he knew it’d be much better to assign Seven to discussing strategy.

Seven was a robot, standing rather tall and wearing a trench coat and fedora. Since he was a robot with no actual human emotions, and an intelligence data of any and everything he could find on the web, he could be considered ‘smart’.

“Offensive Team A will consist of me, Clash, Freeze, Sollux, and AJ, this teams mission will be to distract the opposing forces and lead them away from achieving their goal” everyone in Team A nodded in approval, they were obviously chosen since they could all be loud and distracting. Clash for example was a tall and loud man who was part phoenix; he wasn’t exactly difficult to miss.

“Offensive Team B will consist of Sharpie, Alice, Luke, Goose, and Hat Kid, this teams mission will be to achieve our goal by grabbing the opposing forces flag” this team was obviously chosen for their stealth and speed skills.

“Defensive Team will consist of Scott, Ratta, Shawn, and Meg, your goal is to defend our team’s flag from the opposing forces” these people were chosen for the fact they could easily defend the flag. These four could easily accomplish their goal; Ratta was a large man standing 6’4 he could surely be able to block against attackers. Scott was a much leaner man, he acted more so as a backup distraction. As for Shawn and Meg, they were both highly intelligent and capable people. The only thing Seven could possibly see slowing them down is the fact they were a couple, hopefully they would keep their eyes on the goal, rather than each other.

“Does everyone understand their roles?” Seven’s booming voice stated, asking for conformation. Everyone either said yes, or at least nodded in agreement.

“Question!” a voice called out, it was the voice of Luke. “Where is our flag going to be located?” Luke was man about 6’2 with dark skin. Like other members of The Salad he was half cat, he also dawned a tee shirt, blue jeans (with a hole cut out in the back to make room for his tail), and a maroon backpack.

“How ‘bout at the top of the old light house? It’s on our side, plus is would be easy to defend” Said Shawn.

“Affirmative, the light house is the most opportune location for out team’s flag” responded Seven.

“Well alright then, let’s go win ourselves some capture the flag!” said Scott, rather enthusiastically.

~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay, so… Anyone got any ideas?” asked Guude.
“You’re the leader, aren’t you supposed to be the one coming up with ideas?” asked Pause.
“I’m tryin’ guy, but I can’t do all the thinkin’ myself!” said Guude, his southern accent becoming more and more obvious, the angrier Pause made him.
“C’Mon Guude, step up your game!” replied Pause.
“What the hell do ya’ mean step up ma’ game!”
The two of them continued bickering until they were interrupted by the sound of a very loud horn.
“Oh shit! Here’s the plan, Vechs, Zisteau, and Aurey you stay back to guard the flag, the rest of us will search for their flag” screamed BTC, now taking charge of their group.
“What do we do with the flag!” asked Aurey, the flag in her hands.
“Shit, I don’t know! Bury it or something!” replied BTC before he ran off, immediately followed by the other Mindcrackers.
BTC ran and jumped up the side of one of the many scattered buildings. BTC wasn’t the tallest man, and he wasn’t the strongest either. But he did have eight years of military experience and was rather resourceful.
He wears all black clothing, but his most notable piece of clothing was a skull mask that he never took off.
BTC jumped from roof top to tree branch to roof top, never stopping or even slowing down. He was friends with everyone on his team, and as much as it didn’t seem it, he truly did like everyone on his team; However in his mind it was more or less him against the entire other team.
He was making great time, he was already on the other team’s side, he saw an explosion out of the corner of his eye, but he figured it was probably the other team trying to distract them. He didn’t let it slow him down, he just kept going.
He eventually ran out of places to jump, so he hid in the tree he was currently already in. He looked around trying to spot the flag. He spotted the light house ‘there’ he thought to himself. BTC adjusted his mask as to make sure it wouldn’t fall off, he jumped off the tree and made a run for it.
~~~~~~~~~~

Goose, Alice, Sharpie, Luke, and Hat Kid all managed to get to the other side of the playing field without ever getting seen, They also traveled by tree/roof top. Goose began to speak in a low whisper.

“Okay guys, Aurey and Vechs seem to be… Digging a hole in the ground? Interesting strategy I guess, we can just jump down there and take the flag from them!” The other four nodded and on Goose’s command jumped down.

The five of them came running towards Vechs and Aurey, and were stopped dead in their tracks by Zisteau who came barreling out of nowhere pushing them back. He had actually shoved Luke and Hat Kid to the ground, and had blocked off Sharpie, Alice, and Goose’s pathway to the flag.

Alice came at Zisteau, swinging a fist at him, however Zisteau grabbed her fist and threw her too to the ground.

Goose and Sharpie both began running at Zisteau from opposite directions at full speed, Zisteau simple took a step back right before they got to him, resulting in them colliding with one another.

Luke had gotten up and had towards Zisteau, but was just slammed to the ground again. These five members of the Salad Team simply couldn’t stop Zisteau.
‘Why can’t we beat him?’ thought Alice to herself as her friends kept running at him just to get thrown down again. ‘And why is he only blocking, and not actually attacking? And where the bollix did Aurey and Vechs run off too?’ It was here when Alice realized what was going on.

“He’s a decoy!” Alice yelled out to her team, but it was far too late.

Another loud horn went off, identical to the first. This had signified that someone’s flag had been grabbed.

~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone gathered back together in the arena, Aurey was still holding onto Team Mindcracks flag, and BTC was wielding the flag of Team Salad.
“Well, it looks like Mindcrack has won this first round!” called out Guude.
There was a symphony of ‘woo hoos’ from Mindcrack and ‘Aw mans’ from Salad. After everyone quieted down Guude continued.
“Since this was just the first event, no one from Salad will actually be eliminated. However to make it so this whole first challenge wasn’t pointless, Mindcrack gets a reward! We get to choose the next event that we compete in.” said Guude.
Shawn began talking now. “The Next event will be in two days, until then everyone can mingle with one another I suppose”
~~~~~~~~~~

Clash got up rather late the next day. He woke up and stretched, getting a satisfying ‘crack’ sound from his back. He was staying in one of the houses, bunking with Luke, Ratta, and Seven. It appeared that everyone else had already gotten up.

Clash had black hair with a blue streak in it, he were black leather jacket with phoenix wings on the back.

He had black steel toed combat boots and black fingerless gloves with flames on them. He had black athletic pants. His eyes were a red a blue mixture, and much like Goose he had cat ears and a hole cut in the back of his pants for a tail to stick out of.

Clash was a rather fun and silly guy, he was literally the farthest thing from serious one could ever imagine.

Clash left his little house and headed to the arena to see if anyone was there. When he got there he only saw Beef, who was sitting in the corner just looking up at the sky. Clash decided to go over and sit by Beef.

“Hey there Beeferino, whatcha up to this morning?” asked Clash.

“Oh hey, Clash right?” responded Beef, a smile visible on his bearded face.

“Yep, Clash is I!”

“Well, I’m just hanging out, enjoying the view. Nothing too exciting” said Beef, looking up at the sky.

“Nothing wrong with that man” said Clash. The two of them sat there in silence looking up at the sky for a good ten minutes, in absolute silence. The silence was interrupted by the sound of Clash’s stomach.

“Oh snap I’m hungry! Do we have any cookie pockets here?” asked Clash.

“What the heck are cookie pockets?” asked Beef with a bemused expression.

“You’ve never had a cookie pocket before? You’re coming with me, now.” With that Clash grabbed Beef’s wrist pulled him up, and began dragging him away in the search of cookie pockets.

~~~~~~~~~~
Alice was supposed to meet up with Ratta at the cafeteria for breakfast; however when she showed up Ratta was nowhere to be seen.
“Silly Ratta, probably lost track of time again” she said in her British accent.
Alice went to go sit down when she was suddenly surprised by a hand on her shoulder. She quickly turned around to see who it was, but there was no one around.
“Spooky” she said to herself.
The point of the hats is it's very easy to swap abilities.
"The only thing Seven could possibly see slowing them down is the fact they were a couple, hopefully they would keep their eyes on the goal, rather than each other."
We know there's a time and a place! (Though apparently fiction us don't, since Bitsy got past :P)
I must agree with Ratta here. We actually had a plan, had a hiding spot, had a defense-able area had POWERS (for crying out loud), and we're not stupid enough to run into Z over and over again..... How did we lose that, exactly?
Err, scott? I think we're running into the plot device issue again.
No matter how pro BTC is, there is no way he got past four, count them, four armed guards in a narrow hallway, especially when flanked and at a negative height advantage. Not only that, but the guards had every advantage, including knowing where he was coming from and when, and would if they have any brains, (any I'm pretty sure shawn (well, on second thought...) and meg do, but I cant remember the others) they would have a trap set up. Also, because of your forcefield powers, you could have easily completely blocked off the narrow light house stairway. ON top off all that, we had foreknowledge of the event, making the lack of strategy or plans, or actions like those every more ridiculous....
Him guessing the lighthouse at all can be explained by "pro"ness, barely, but there is no way a person can do that.
Scott, It's a lighthouse. With ONE door, ONE stairway (and don't even try to wriggle your way out of that one, there is a reason there is only one stairway in lighthouses) and FOUR guards. I don't care how stealthy BTC was, he would have been noticed.
Also, I'm pretty sure you mentioned your force fields in here. Scott, they were armed, if at least with a crowbar, which is more than BTC would have been able to get his hands on.
Alright, i guess there could be a rule against weapons... I just was taking these fights more seriously than they are in the story. Also, if there aren't force fields, can you turn into a sheep? Because that might where the mistake came from, as those two powers normally happen at the same time with you. Not only that, but if you don't have your froce fields, then why were you good at defending the flag?
And about the BTC thing.... No matter how pro he is, he cannot escape detection in a one stairway lighthouse, or beat four people of equal or close to equal ability when the defenders have all the advantages.
Okay, that was an important clarification.
Yes, but they have combat training, possibly at a lesser extent due to removing their weapons. You, however, are rather useless in the universe, as you have no powers or combat training at all, even lacking tactical skills.... You would have been much better in the distraction team (which made no sense at all by the way, why spend all of that power distracting when you can rush it all at the flag (while still having a stealth team)?).
1: You didn't actually deny Blaze access in the story though, right? That'd just be a recipe for disaster, hence my request to block him from entering the story in the first place. I do agree that the interviews were stupid, but I think that letting us vote on those that show up (with just as much information is available in the spreadsheet and possibly a little more) would make sense, as I really don;t think we're goign to let in a couple of the "Dick" personalized characters.
2: I am goign to try fixing my Skype today, however, if that does not work, GDocs will.
