So I posted a bad version of this a while back but with school being out I had some free time on my hands so I rewrote it. Its still bad but like not as bad so idk injoy?

Scattered around are many towns, and separating man's work is the work of the woman; Mother Nature's work surrounds the land of unnatural. On the outside of one average man made monstrosity was Mother’s pay back. Looked upon as a perfect camping location was a rather large forest. People never stopped to notice the amount of people who go in and never return.

I never was very keen on camping, but when an old familiar voice asked me if I wished to accompany him and some friends of his I could not find a way to say no. So here I was following behind my old childhood friend Quinn and his friends as we trailed into the best camping spot in the area. As soon as it became too late to turn back from my decision I realized that it was a bad one. The other participants on this journey were a quiet girl by the name of Scarlet, Dana the only one who seemed to have any knowledge about camping, and Mary, Quinn’s girlfriend and the girl who took him away from me.
Clips of words could be heard from the couple ahead, I couldn't make out everything they said but I made out enough to know that she was complaining about me. Mary had never liked me. She appeared two years ago and instantly lusted after Quinn. I had never been bothered with any of the girls that Quinn fell for, most of them became my friends, but Mary made a point to exclude me from any place she might be. Normally, I shy away from anything problematic. However, I was not prepared to lose my best friend to this problem. When I confronted Quinn about my fears he gave me his bright, goofy grin he always had and told me I was being silly. A week later I spied Mary making out with another guy. Slightly shocked but not even slightly surprised by what I saw, I knew I had to warn Quinn. I'd never seen him get as angry as he did that day. He wasn’t angry at Mary. He was angry at me. Ever since we hadn't spoken, his smile wilted away, and him and Mary’s relationship grew.
We didn't need to walk too far to find a nice clearing to settle in. The green of the grass and leaves around me seemed to dim as I entered the open area, and for a split second they faded to grey. The entirety of the floor before me was scattered with various bodies all carved and cured in different ways, and the wall of trees seemed too hide beings. I couldn't be sure what they were, but I felt them there. I felt a hand touch my shoulder that brought me back to reality. The horror scene disappeared and the bright green clearing returned.
“You okay? You look pale,” a quiet voice peeped. The voice’s owner was Scarlet. Despite barely knowing me, she looked quite concerned.
“Yeah, just thought I saw a snake or something,” I lied with a laugh. After all, who didn't fear a wild snake just slightly?

Dana was the prominent one who put the camp together with the help of myself, Quinn, and Scarlet. We all followed her orders. Once that matter was taken care of, the sun had begun to set. Thankfully the supplies for a fire had already been gathered and the food supplies had already being arranged by Princess Mary.
It was pleasant to feel the warmth of the fire while tasting the hot dogs and s'mores. However, the image I had seen upon entering the clearing would not leave my mind. Somehow each time I wondered about the image it became less and less horrible. Looking around the clearing now, I tried to repicture what I had seen, but somehow I could not. It was as if I could only see it at a single perspective. As these thoughts and wonders ran around freely in my head I could tell the others were speaking, although I didn't care enough to pay attention to their words until a few words dragged me out of my thoughts.
“How about a scary story? Wouldn't be a true camping experience without one!” Dana challenged as she turned to peer at each of our faces looking for anyone to accept.
“Heck, if it's that much of a priority then I'll step up to the plate.” Quinn said with a smirk on his face. “They say about ten years ago there was an old man who came out here to hang himself. He'd never really liked his life as all of the town had hated him and feared him from the day he was born, so he had come here to end it. Most people might have grabbed a rope for such a task, however he chose a rusty chain, and I'm not quite sure the process but sure enough he hung himself. Now, over the past ten years people have been warned to never enter this part of the woods as the man would use his chain to kill anyone from town.”
Everyone got a good laugh out of the tale. Everything seemed fine until a chain noose fell onto Dana's neck; laughter died and screams escaped from Scarlet and Mary as Dana was dragged back to the nearest tree and up into the air. A second noose fell around Scarlet’s neck, this time shock no longer held Quinn as he lunged forward to try to save Scarlet, just missing her as Scarlet was dragged to dangle next to Dana. That brought me out of my shock. My brain figured that if I did not move I was going to be next to Scarlet and Dana. Upon standing, the clearing changed. The body's appeared around me, the stench of blood and decaying bodies found its way to my nose, and the blood from the various deceased made the ground moist. Looking upon the tree line I could see eyes peering out at us, and near the tree in which Dana and Scarlet hung from was a man with four chains in his hands.
Quinn’s scream ripped the seen from my vision. I turned to see what was causing the sounds, and what I laid my eyes on made a laugh escape my lips. Not a little laugh or a quick one, a loud, long, crazed laugh that could almost drown out the screaming as Mary joined the others in the trees. Quinn's face showed true horror looking at me. Mine would have too. What could drive a person to laugh at a time like this? To be honest I could not have cared less. The fourth chain came to greet Quinn, and as it whizzed by my head, I somehow managed to grab it. “You know Quinn, you really shouldn't have ditched me for that cheating bitch. Too late for that now though.” I spat out with a growl. The next few moments were blurry. Quinn threw a punch at me only for me to catch it and slip the noose around his neck, laughing as he was dragged to meet his friends and girlfriend in the tree.
With the others gone, the clearings true form was in clear view. The bodies. The beings. I walked towards the tree line where the beings stood. Not all were human; a few animals stood in the mix as well as things that were like nothing that I had ever seen before. I maneuvered over the bodies that laid in the clearing as if this was the hundredth time I had crossed the graveyard. Meeting the tree line, a feeling of safety and home met me. I was certainly glad I chose to accompany my old “friend” to go camping.

Many before and many to come where luried to these woods. Some where used as pawns others where consumed, those pawns all thought it a blessing, really they where worse off then the souls that the woods consumed. The ones it kept were twisted and given thoughts of the woods. Convinced they loved it, that it was helping them, that if gave them a better life, that now because of it they now had a home and friends. Where it may have given them a twisted version of this first it took all of that away, and now it uses its pawns to feed it. May your path never bring you to these woods. It will draw you in, and no matter who you are, you will never escape them..
