Alright, Chapter 1 is up. Excite? Warning for language.

Scott remembers all the things he could have done differently, all the things that could have kept him from being unwound. He remembers the F’s he would get in school, he could have studied more but he never tried. He remembers the fights he got into, a lot of them could have been avoided. He remembers when he screamed at his mother, wishing he wasn't her son.

That right there, is what put the final nail in his coffin. Yet he doesn't regret it.

Scott remembers all of these things, as he’s being driven to the nearest Unwind Camp, handcuffed in the back of a Truant Officers car.

“So, How ‘bout a deal?” says Scott, in an attempt to be freed. The truant officer just laughs at him; Scott feels an immense amount of hate towards this man. To Scott, all truant officers are the same; they’re all just men who like making other people feel miserable, to make themselves feel better.

“You know what you are? You’re just a scared little man who finds joy in bullying defenseless children” says Scott, obviously fine with sharing his feelings.

The Truant Officer has heard it all before. “Yeah? And you’re just a little rebel who’s upset he couldn’t make it a day without his mommy” this Truant Officer seems even more childish than Scott.

Scott thinks of ways he could get out of this situation, but there really is none; he’s just going to have to give up and accept his fate of being unwound… ‘No! Never give up! Keep fighting till you’re all out of fight! And then go and fight even more!’ Scott was never one to give up easily. What Scott does next is what he’s best at, he doesn’t think and just lets instincts take over.

Scott lifts up his foot and kicks at the car window to his left, to his surprise it actually breaks. The Truant Officer notices and gets angry, there’s a glass wall separating them, so he can’t do anything until he pulls over. Scott doesn’t give him that opportunity.

Scott kicks out the rest of the glass and leaps right through the window of the moving car, landing with a hard thump on the sidewalk next to him, he’s coughing now, he thinks he broke at least 3 of his ribs, and even probably has internal bleeding, but that’s just what Scott wants.

The Truant Officer pulls over and picks him up. “Ah shit! You know how much trouble I’m going to get in because of this!?” Even throughout the pain Scott shows a small smirk. “Oh, you think this is funny? Fuck you!” The man tosses Scott back into the car with force. Scott coughs, his insides are hurting so badly. But they can’t unwind a kid whose body is in a bad condition.

No, when they unwind a kid they need everything in his body to be perfect. Because the law says, they have to use the entire body.

When someone is unwound, they don’t technically die, they’re just broken up into several small pieces and used for transplants, but they’re still alive! When you’re unwound, they cut you up into several pieces, taking you apart organ by organ… limb by limb… but due to technology made after the 2nd civil war… you’re still alive…

Kid’s parts are taken and used to heal and fix up those who are injured. Got a broken arm? ‘No need for a cast we’ll just give you a new one! You have lung cancer? No need for a cure when we can give you new lungs! Your son has a brain tumor? We’ll just take that out and give him parts from other kid’s brains!’

It’s a sick disgusting law, but it’s the law…

The second civil war was fought over women’s rights to choose. One side said abortion should be made illegal; the other side said it should be their choice what to do with the babies. After 7 years of brutal fighting, a compromise was made. Abortion is illegal, but if your child is between the age of 13 and 17, and you still don’t want them. You can have them unwound!

There was no guilt about it, as every part of their child was still alive, just in a new form. At least that’s what guilty parents would say to themselves.

Scott knew that jumping out of the car could kill him, but he also knew if it didn’t it would buy him at least a month… And it worked; here he is in his hospital bed, getting more amount of attention than any other patient there, because he needed actual attention. Anyone else there was just there to get a transplant, something every doctor and nurse are required to learn in college, ever since the second war ended at least.

Scott now had time to think about how he could escape, he always has at least one guard in the room with him at all times, though its mostly the same douche Truant Officer who apparently has nothing better to do with his life.

Over the course of Scott’s stay in the hospital, he learned the Truant Officer’s name was Chester. Suits him, Chester’s a loser name for a loser man. Scott had developed a burning hate towards Chester; he probably hated Chester more than he ever hated anyone else, which is saying a lot considering how many people Scott hated. That was okay though, because Scott knew Chester felt the same thing towards him.

Despite Chester’s attitude of not caring what Unwinds think of him, Scott found it hilarious how easily he could get under his skin.

“So Chester, word on the street is you were bullied as a child, and that you take out all that pent up rage on innocent children. I would feel sorry for you if it weren’t for the fact I hate your guts.” Watching Chester squirm as Scott played off of his weaknesses may have been the most satisfying thing of all time.

One day Scott may have just gone too far though.

“So Chester, I notice your teeth don’t match your face, that because you have an ugly face? Or is it because you got punched in the mouth for being a little bitch, so you decided to get new teeth from an innocent Unwind? I bet it’s the latter, heck maybe even both…” Chester seemed to be getting very frustrated by the subject, but that of course just made Scott want to continue even more.

“Did you have to pay for the teeth or did your parents? Probably your parents, I mean they already had a failure for a son, they didn’t want him to be ugly. Well, uglier than he already was of course. Is that it Chester?” Chester burst out of his seat and got less than an inch away from Scott’s face.

“You shut the fuck up right now, my parents love me! Unlike your sorry ass excuse for a life, your parents must have hated you for you to get unwound! The second you’re healed up I will personally guarantee that you get unwound, and I will personally guarantee that your parts go to people just as useless as you, so they’ll get unwound and you’ll have a never ending cycle of fucking failure!” Chester’s face was red with anger, what started out as a scream became even louder and more brutal. A nurse had run into make sure everything was okay.

Through all this though, Scott was only happier. With a sly grin and an arrogant tone Scott continued on. “My parents may have hated me, but at least I know there are people out there who do love me, can you really say that about yourself?”

Chester looked like he was about to strangle Scott, but then nurse pulled him away before he could. Oddly enough, Chester no longer watched guard over Scott.

Scott stayed in there for 2 months… Although he wasn’t fully healed yet, he knew his safety was coming to an end. Scott had been trying to devise a plan to get out, but this place was just too secure. It would have to take a miracle for Scott to escape being unwound.

And a miracle is just what happened.

Scott was sleeping; it was 3 AM when the crash happened. Right there in the side of his hospital room, an ambulance smashed the wall open, not only opening an exit, but it seemed to have either kill the guard watching Scott, or at least knock him out. Scott knew what he had to do, despite not being fully recovered and wearing nothing but boxers and a hospital gown, he got up and began to run.
When he was running out though, he saw a man still in the ambulance, not a man, but a kid.

Probably not much older than Scott, he was unconscious, and from the events that occurred it was obvious to Scott, he was also running from being unwound.

Scott knew if he rescued this kid he’d regret it, he knew the kid would only slow him down and increase the chances of him being caught. He knew he’d have to be a complete moron to rescue this kid. So of course, he reaches in the ambulance, throws the kid over his shoulder huffing and weaving as he tries to carry the kid, who weighs just as much, if not more than Scott.

He only got 10 steps before tripping and dropping the kid just barely outside of the hospital room, or lack thereof. Carrying this kid was not going to work. Then something surprising happened…

The kid woke up.

I feel physically ill now that I know what unwinding is... That's more sickening than abortion.
