Alright, so this fic is in honor of a close family friend Malic Tipsword, who was shot and killed earlier today. May he rest in peace.

It was New Years Eve, and although normally the people of the Salad House would be throwing a party, for some reason they had decided against one this year. Most people were just going to hang out, and talk, perhaps play a gameor two, just like any otherday.

Shawn however, being the romantic man he is, had decided to take Cooki out for a special New Years Eve date by the lake.

“So Sanderp, you enjoying the night so far?” asked Shawn, in his usual playful tone.

“It’s perfect Psyderp” replied Cooki, before booping him on the nose playfully. They both shared a small laugh before Shawn continued.

“I think I know what can make this evening even better” Without further delay, Shawn reached for something in his pocket and pulled out a small box. “It’s a present, for you”.

Cooki grabbed the small box and opened it with care, inside was a small pin; shaped and designed to look a like a sandshrew. She proudly pinned it onto her dress.

“Oh Shawn, I love it.” said Cooki before pulling him into a hug. "I think this is going to be a great year"

Back at the Salad House, most of it’s residents were simply in the living room, talking about their experiences from the past year, good and bad. Some, not wanting to dwell on the past, were talking about what the year ahead would hold in store for them.

“Hey Ratt, remember that ship you were in?” asked Zerg, innocently enough.

“Which one? There was Freeze, Goose, Alice, AJ, Sollux, Scott, Infa, Ca-” Ratt began listing everyone he had been shipped with over the year, before he was cut off by a soft slap to the face.

Ratt turned to see Clash, the man who had slapped him.

“Haha! I knew I could get you to slap me!” he called out victoriously. Clash simply rolled his eyes then walked away. "I think this is going to be a great year!" Ratt cried out happily.

Clash was walking around upstairs, not wanting to be around so many people. He was really just looking to spend a quiet evening with Scott, if he could find him that was.

“Scooter, where are you?” he called out. Scott immediately emerged out of the room that was right behind Clash.

“Hai Clash!” said Scott with a smile on his face.

“Scooter! Where’ve you been?” Clash asked curiously, and with a smile on his face.

“Just been looking at the stars, you should join me.” said Scott, opening the door to the bedroom he was just in.

“But of course” Clash said before entering, followed in step behind Scott.

The two looked through the large open window in the room, seeing the beautiful night sky. It always amazed Clash how so many stars could be seen from the Salad House. "Scooter, I think this is going to be a great year."

“All I was saying is that you probably shouldn’t use a plastic knife to carve a pumpkin next time” said Cap, talking to Fan about one of their ever so strange conversations.

“I would have used a real one, but I’m not allowed to touch those anymore.” said Fan in response.

The pair’s conversation was cut short by the sound of a silver fork making a ‘klink’ sound against a wine glass. Everyone’s heads turned to see Seven who was now standing infront of the tv, much to Sollux and Goose’s dismay.

“Alright, I for one don’t particularly see the point celebrating holidays, however marking time and seeing how long one has managed to avoid death is something that I can agree with, so I am now informing you that there’s only 6 seconds till New Years.” said Seven, lack of emotion in his voice.

Everyone began counting down from…

“Five”

“Four”

“Three”

“Two”

“Happy New Years!”

All of the Saladites called out gleefully, lots of hugs and boops were distributed to one another, as they celebrated the new year. Although it wasn't a party, the ones that were their still got pretty loud.

After the cheering had submerged, and everyone went back to their normal conversations; Alice was still looking to find Clash and boop him. After a while of not being able to find him, she decided to see if Seven knew where he was.

“Hey Seven, have you seen Clash? I thought he was here, but I can't seem to find him" she said, British accent very obvious.

“He was last seen heading up stairs in search of Scott.” said Seven, in his robotic voice.

Alice decided to sneak upstairs to see what they were doing, she checked a few of the rooms and they were all empty, until eventually she opened a door to see none other than Scott and Clash cuddling in a bed together.

Alice immediately closed the door quietly and quickly, a huge smile on her face. She was giggly and slightly tearing up, seeing couples being fluffy together did that to her. She walked back down stairs to see Seven.

“Did you find them?” Seven asked her.

“Yep, they’re just fine.” she said happily. “I think this is going to be a great year…”

Wheee!

"Marking the passage of time and celebrating the fact that one has not died is something I can agree with."

I'm starting to become a thing again! Yay!

Yeah, and that's why I'm not really sad about not being in many things - my character is the one I chose, and therefore it is only my fault if it doesn't fit in for a fic.

Commander, there appears to be a red pigment on your face. Suggested action: attempted removal via water.
