99th Battalion: Dawn Cry (Chapter IV)
Jan. 16th, 2015 04:21 pmwell I can finally continue my story of Dawn Cry. This chapter introduces our OTHER set of characters. These are of an alien race, the "Flesh Elves" as the humans commonly call them, but are actually called the Saivar.
Hope you don't get more lost in this series!
Elem awoke in her chamber. She looked through the window of her sleeping pod to see a dark room with a few green dots of light which was the activation switch to open the room door. She searched her pod for the tax needle. It was above her head and she lifted her arm to where her vein was and let the needle take its dose.
The needle took what it needed and the sleeping pod awoke with green light. It opened to allow Elem to leave it. Her chamber was dark and cold, just like how Elem appreciated it. The room was of a black color, however had hints of violet and crimson decoration. The shape of it was unlike human design; instead of safety the Saivar liked their architecture. It was box shaped and had solid edges, unlike the bubble design of human ships. The walls had sharp architectural blades in each corner that were meant to “settle” any disputes between crew members.
She stumbled around a bit, getting use to her senses after the long sleep, and found her clothing container. It was large black box that was covered by a light layer of gelatin. She found the standard uniform and began to dress. She struggled, for she was still weary after stasis, yet managed to put the uniform on and headed towards the door.
The hallway was quiet, motionless, and cold. Elem traveled down it, stumbling a few times. She passed by a trophy chamber, containing the war trophies of conquered Saivar Lords, Alliance Warlords, and the new dangerous race of humans and their officers. She smiled at the grotesque sight and continued down the hall.
Walking by came Povar, another ship mate that Elem roughly knew. Accompanying him was Fraik, a member of Elem's house. She knew him as an honorable member and treated him as family. They said little past their respectful greetings.
The feasting chamber was a dark room near the heart of the ship. It was covered with green lights and several ship mates who made it there first. The room was very distinct and made of the same metal as the rest of the ship. Something else about it could usually cause confusion to humans who have seen such a room was the presence of the blood collectors. These machines lay beneath the floor of the room and eluded a green glow. The Blood collectors absorbed any blood that fell upon the floor and stored it in a container for trade. Such machines had a radioactive presence and effects could include nausea and delusional effects to creatures that have not become used to their presence.
Elem sat by herself at a table in the middle. Povar and Fraik sat separate at the closest table to the servings. Elem sat and began to truly recover from her stasis effects. Her eyes hurt, yet they gained control quickly due to the lack of light on the ship. Her touching returned quickly, followed by smelling, hearing, and tasting. But her last sense she would have to work on later.
She got up to receive her food. She returned to the empty table bringing a serving of Dol, Sashonet blood, and a human hand spiced with Hila Vine. She ate the delighted meal fast, and her senses became stronger with it, all but one.
She was joined at the table by Seven. Seven was an artificial life form created by the Saivar. He was made of artificial cells that contained artificial DNA that could be replicated to regenerate or grow. Technically, this made seven a living organism. He waited patiently for her to finish before speaking in his warm voice.
"Your senses increased?" asked Seven.
"All but one," Elem had a cold voice, yet not a cold attitude. "Where’s the rest of the crew, I'd expect more before the human is gone."
"Well there is always Dol meat to go around. I don't know about the Sashonet blood."
"The last of them will miss it," Elem ripped the last meat off of the human’s thumb before setting it down.
"May I try the Dol?" Seven asked, pointing at the sliced cut of a Dol on Elem's tray.
"Go ahead," invited Elem, "but not too much, I still need some."
Seven placed his index finger upon the Dol meat. His finger appeared to become silver and went into the meat. Meat split where he placed his finger and his finger reappeared. He took the slice he had just made and proceeded to eat it in his mouth. He was satisfied by the meal.
"how was your travel Seven."
"It was in stasis mostly. My senses naturally came back almost immediately, unlike most creatures."
"Yeah, it will be awhile before my senses are fully restored. I’ll travel to the blood banks in time to regain my Fiah. In the meantime, I’m going to have a second serving."
