Here's chapter 1, I blame that Zombi over there for any mistakes~ *points at Shawn*

Also, don't mess with seniors.

“Right, line up everybody!” Ratt yelled at the small crowd of new students. “Come up here one by one and say your names, branch, path, and colour.”

“Shawn Nathan, Ranger, Gunslinger, Red-Orange, Sir.” A boy stepped up and said quickly.

“Alright, go stand by Seven here, he is leading the Ranged and Magic people.” Ratt dismissed, not bothering to look up. “Next!”

“Lizia Darkpalm, Melee, Assassin, Red.” A tall, slender girl walked up to the desk and stated pseudo-confidently

“Wait here,” his attention already on the next student.

“Yessir.” Lizia said, stepping aside.

“Next.”

“Cinna Blakewood, Melee, Duelist, Gold.” The new girl answered in a confident voice.

Ratt finally tore his eyes from the documents and looked up, “Oh? Gold already? And you’re a first year? That’s rare.” He smiled, he was Gold when he signed up for the academy, past orange but not quite at yellow yet.

“Yes, Sir. I have been training at home.” She replied quickly, eager to move the conversation on. More like because I had no choice, either train and become better or be hunted and killed. Just my luck, of all the people I could’ve taken over, it had to be Cinna Blakewood.

“Go stand by Lizia, I will take the Melee people to their third of the academy soon.” He said, attention back on the document on the table before him. “Next please.”

---------------- 97 Minutes Later ----------------

“…Cooki, Magic, Wizard, Red-Orange.” A girl said, fidgeting a bit.

“Line up on the left side, with Seven.” Ratt grumbled, tired and bored of his task. “Next.”

“Clash Igneregnatus, Magic, Wizard, Orange.” Clash answered, “I’m the last one, Sir.”

“Alright, Orange? That’s pretty good for a first year too.” Ratt said, relaxing a bit in his chair.

“Thank you Sir.” He said, grinning.

“Go line up on the left, with Seven.”

--------RANDOMLINEISVERYRANDOM---------

Lizia hurried back to the dorms, wanting to get a decent room for herself before they are all taken. I wonder if the others made it. Pretty sure that Shawn person is Zombi. I hope the rest are here too.

She was snapped out of her thoughts by a person bumping into her.

“Sorry, Az.” Cinna said, looking up from her book and blurting the first name that came to mind. “No, not Az. I apologise, what is your name again? I forget.”

“Lizia.” She said.

Cinna stared at her for a bit, eyes flashing red for a brief moment before returning to their usual sapphire blue colour.

Is that… Synn? No way. No.

“Lizia, Cinna, here you are.” Ratt yelled at them from across the courtyard. “I need to speak to you about your future here.”

“Yes Sir!” The two girls said simultaneously, then broke into a run to the other end of the courtyard where Ratt stood.

“So Lizia, you are what again?” Ratt asked.

“Melee, Assassin, Sir.” She replied confidently.

“How did you get to the school?” He wondered out loud.

“Sir, the farm I worked on wasn’t far away. And my master would have tanned my hide if I had taken a horse.” Lizia replied contritely.

Ratt chuckled at the girl, amused by her honesty. “And what do you hope to accomplish here, Miss?” He was getting rather interested the first years, for once in who knows how long.

“I wish to train and become stronger, to find my friends and protect my country, Sir,” she responded immediately.

“Good. And you, Cinna?” Ratt turned to Cinna, who was standing by Lizia.

“I am here to find my friends, and I wish to become the best guardian. I want to protect the people whom I love and care about, I want to protect my comrades, even if it means giving up my own life. And I will do it.” Cinna said, standing tall and confident.

“You are dismissed, girls.” Ratt said, waving them off.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Sir, how do I get to the Ranger’s Quarters?” Shawn asked Seven, after running around the academy for 3 hours.

“Go left, right, left, straight, up, left, left, right, down, left, straight, then right and you’ll be there.” Seven answered, his lips curling up into a cruel smile.

“Left, right, left, straight, up, left, left, right, down, left, straight, and right. Not too bad. Thank you, Sir.” He said before walking off, mutter to himself about Sandshrews and sleep.

“Hello, Sir. Is this the Magic Quarters?” Clash walked up to Seven, and asked politely, he had heard Seven’s conversations with Shawn earlier and was determined to not fall for it.

“You are lucky.” Seven said, amused.

“What do you mean, Sir?”

“I just sent that guy, Shawn, I think, on a 1.5 mile run that brings him back exactly where he started.” The senior turned around, and pointed at a building next to him, “The dorms are here, boys are upstairs.”

“Yes Sir, thank you, Sir.” Clash said, still slightly worried that this is a trick of some kind.

“The name’s Seven.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

“Liz, come with me.” Cinna said. It was not a request, but a command, and Lizia had no choice but to follow the other girl.

Cinna led them around the Melee Quarters to the back of the building, and spun to face Lizia.

“Lizia. Or should I call you, Az?” She smirked, pinning the taller girl to the wall with ease. “Heir of the Dark Angels, Azrael?”

Lizia’s eyes widened at the name, and she tried to hide her reactions, “I don’t know what you are talking about, alright? I am Lizia Darkpalm, and that’s it.”

“Oh? Then I am sure you recognise these.” Cinna said in a cold voice.

Dual blades appeared by Cinna’s side, one of the darkest black, and the other, snow white. “Angel, Phoenix, Synn and Zombi.” She pointed at herself and the other girl as she named them. “Team 19. You know what I am talking about.”

“Angel’s Sigh, Demon’s Cry, none shall pass with a lie.” Those blades, they were supposed to be passed on to me. Until I died in that mission. Liz thought, struggling not letting it show, to keep control. No! I am Lizia Darkpalm, not Azrael of the Dark Angels. No. I’m not.

“I don’t.” Liz replied, a harsh undertone to her words. She tried to think of a way to escape from Cinna’s grasp. Coming to a conclusion, she went completely limp, using her body as dead weight to drag Cinna’s arm off of her, grabbing a blade from a sheath sewn into her boot.

Cinna’s eyes widened as Azrael fell, spurring her into action once she registered the blade Liz was drawing. She retaliated quickly, her eyes shifting from her normal to a deep shade of red.

“Her eyes! Liz thought in surprise as she looked at the girl standing above her. They’re just like Synn’s!

Cinna wrenched the blade from Azrael’s hands, thinking all the while that she had to be right. There’s no way it isn’t Angel… No way anyone could know her name otherwise.

“I don’t know who you are!” Liz cried out, fear creeping into her mind as she realized that she was totally defenseless against the duelist like she was, sitting, nearly laying, on the ground. “You lost someone, and I get that. You look for them everywhere, but sometimes, you just have to accept that you’re not going to find them. Some people just don’t come back…”

“Az!” Cinna nearly yelled, even as close as she was to the assassin. “I know it’s you!” Liz jerked her arm out of Cinna’s grasp and shoved her away, standing up to face the duelist, face reddened from anger.

“NO!” Liz yelled back, raising her voice to an even louder volume, but Cinna wasn’t backing down.

“Zombi is here too, Az. Tell me you saw him! I know you recognized him! Azrael!” Cinna crouched into a battle stance, ready to fight her former friend should it come to that. Tensions were certainly heated enough for that to be a possibility.

“NO! I am not her!” Liz yelled, her voice as loud as it could go. Cinna took a step back and relented. I’ll get to her eventually… But she’s not going to listen now, obviously. She dropped Angel’s Sigh on the ground. Lizia questioned the sudden surrender, not knowing why Cinna would be relenting now rather than earlier on in the argument, but grateful she did.

“Look, I believe you… Okay? I’m sorry for saying the things I did.” Cinna turned away and began to walk out of the room, Angel’s Sigh still on the ground, leaving Azrael stunned, staring at the white blade in front of her.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Asshole." Shawn muttered under his breath as he stood in front of the same building as the one he started at. “Dammit.”

“Oh? And who are you calling an asshole there, Shawn?” Seven, leaning against a tree nearby, asked in an amused voice.

“Uhhh, no one, Sir.” The Ranger quickly spun to face the senior. “And you could’ve just had me wait here, Sir.”

Seven laughed, “Nope, had to teach you the lesson. Don’t believe anything that seems too complicated to be believable. That was the first thing I was taught here.” He looked at the sky, gauging the time, “Lights out in 15 minutes, go back to your dorm, it’s the building by the Magic Quarters.” He said, pointing at a building across the courtyard from where they stood.

“Thank you, Sir. Have a good night, Sir.” Shawn replied before running off to the Ranger’s Quarters to get himself a room before the lights go out.

This first chapter was pretty good, my only complaint is the lack of Scott. :D

I love it when the older kids are mean, it makes room for payback or ascension. Also I feel left in the dark because I don't know much about this world.
