Was having such a hard time finding inspiration over the past few weeks to write something for my class tomorrow on 'First Impressions', then just a few minutes ago this little poem popped into my head.

Got to make a good impression
The first must be the best
Make sure my fur is flat, not a nest

The barking starts
Here they come
People to give us homes

Mustn’t be too loud but just enough to draw the eye
Too much and I’ll be thought too gruff
Too little and it won’t be enough

One by one they pass me by
‘Too old’ ‘Too scruffy’
I lay and give a little huff

Maybe tomorrow
Someone will care enough
To look past all my scruff

Aww, poor little puppy, I'll adopt you! *scoops up dog and disappears in puff of smoke*
(Also good job on the poem)

My dad was talking to my grandparents that we're visiting for spring break and casually says "and we're taking a 3 hour car trip down to Kansas on Saturday to look at a puppy at a shelter" and I'm like we're getting a puppy since when what why wouldn't you tell me what you can't just casually say we're getting a puppy *continues to flail and sputter in disbelief*

A time-travelling magical cookie baker and a healing revolutionary co-found a shelter and rescue and take care of and love all the animals ever I'm in.

Apparently they've been looking at other dogs, but they keep getting adopted before we can look at them, and my parents wanted to make sure everything worked out so we didn't get our hopes up. But I mean, puppy. It's so cute and calm and well-behaved.

Headcanon approved and accepted.

And there's the lightning I was promised. I was told there was to be a great strom with wind and rain by the news, and it rained heavily with giant gusts for all of 45 seconds before the air was still and it was sprinkling gently. Now, 20 minutes later, the lightning finally showed up, and there wasn't even any thunder for the first 3 flashes. What is this weak and pathetic excuse for weather? I was promised a storm! It's trying to make a comeback, but I'm skeptical. In case you can't tell, I'm the type of person who loves extreme weather and thunderclaps that roll for a solid 30 seconds. Everyone I know thinks I'm insane.

Exactly! Bring on the wind storms and blizzards and end of the world flood levels of rain, with thunderclaps that shake the earth to its core and lightning more blinding than the sun!

Or a gentle breeze and some light rain is fine too, I guess. I mean, as long as there's something.

That's generally how I feel, I sleep easier with the sound of heavy rain, but I usually don't mind going out in it as long as it doesn't start soaking through my clothes. Alternatively, I'm also okay with a downpour as long as I'm going to be inevitability soaked all at once.
